Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his first trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after spring of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early break points in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
